E-Learning Reflection

Love the I-pods. I haven't fully explored all the apps yet but they are so easy to use as another learning to capture childrens learning. My children still LOVE to take photos or anything and everything and mae photopeaches to display their learning.

I love how the childrem appraticually from the techsperxs club have taught me new things and know more about web tools than I do.

Blogging is alot more fluent in way children quickly sign in, post a comment get it checked, upload photos and videos all idpendepently. We can now get some much more completed in our 1 ICT session per week. Children are taking real ownership of thier blog also wanting to comment on other blogs and always wanting to post about their learning.

I am yet to explore more learning apps on the ipod.

Children blow me away with how fast they learn. :)

We have recently had some PD on inter-write and learnt a few new skills and was able to import my gallery back on.
I need to still download adobe flash player so that I can get some of the flash templetes and games that Shane has. :)

I look forward to using the gallery and showing the children whats available.

Restorative Practice PD

I did enjoy the PD in had in the holidays (expect the part of being in our holidays :) ).
I have enjoyed being back at school using the restorative questions when coming across a problem.
The children have responded really well to the types of questions, e.g. "what was the worst part for you?" or "How can you/we fix this?".
They have been more honest, shared their feelings more and accepted both points of view better. I feel I am more calm as well as the children while dealing with the problem.

Turn a new page ... 2012!

Attending the mailto:Learnign@Schools conference last week has opened my eyes, made me think and want to try new things this year!

Starting with changes...
Today instead of giving children seated places they can sit anywhere any time, (maths, reading and writing will be a bit more structured with groups mainly together). Very high expectations were talked about and made. Throughout the day it was interesting watching where children chose to sit at a particular time of the day, who they chose to sit with and how focused they were.

Useful message...
Showing more empathy towards others... not being judgemental and 100% caring and aware of the CHILD'S needs. After listening to Kevin Honeycutt and hearing about his background and upbringing and the impact that those teachers had (the ones that weren't uncaring etc) had a huge impact in just his belief and self as a whole!
Dr. Seuss "oh the places you'll go", if people are caring and believing.

New technology...
  • learn how to access/do google docs
  • use voice thread
  • use my interactive board throughout the whole day and specific follow up activities in all areas of learning - have picked up some great websites through this conference.
